Heartworm positive dogs who receive treatment usually cost anywhere from $1000 to $1500 dollars USD. They receive 3 separate injections and spend about 6 months in foster care. Please put your dogs on Heartworm preventative. It is much cheaper than having to treat a HW+ dog. Plus, Heartworms are deadly. Sometimes we lose a dog during treatment. The dead worms can break apart and cause deadly embolisms.
Blaze was Heartworm Positive. Now He is Heartworm Negative and Happily Adopted.
